Iran National Tax Administration (INTA) has announced in a notice that exchange brokers who have illegally bought and sold foreign currencies outside the banking system or exchange companies have become subject to a down payment for tax.
The procedures for collecting tax from 1005 brokers who have illegally purchased and sold foreign currencies in the past 2 years as introduced by the Central Bank of Iran are now in progress.
The turnover of these exchange brokers who have used 5 thousand bank accounts for their transactions has exceeded 100 thousand billion Tomans while 731 of them have no tax records and a tax file has been opened for them for the first time.
In order to leave no trace of their activities, many exchange brokers in Iran buy and sell foreign currencies on the streets, in the shops and offices, or in any other place than the banks or exchange companies.
